Originally by: Reiisha Mass Effect will be released on the PC some time after, and it will be better than the X360 version (ala Fable and Jade Empire for the original XBox). Same goes for virtually every game released for the XBox.
True but I think this will take as long as the Halos did, if not longer, due to the fact that its story is planned as a Trilogy and I imagine most people cant wait that long (like myself). If it really is as good as it looks nothing stopping people getting the PC version later on, but with expansions due to be released over XBOX live periodically 360 players will have a big headstart and it seems that the days of added content on the PC that you wont see on modern console games have gone (like in the original release of fable), see Oblivion, it was faster and easier to just get the expansions through LIVE...and with fewer headaches it seems.
Oblivion doesn't need the DLC's. I've got them here and i'm not installing them - Especially the wizard's tower is just unbalanced, and knights of the nine kills npc's. And, afaik, you can;t get shivering isles for the 360 yet.
The 360 has got 2 thing going for it. First, live. But if you're not going to hunt achievement points or buy a lot of extra stuff from marketplace, you're left with the multiplayer. And the PS3 also offers multiplayer, just not through that unified interface.
Second, it's got Halo 3. Which is a terrible game by any account... Unfortunately it's release got pushed forward to make sure it doesn't lose people to Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3, which are simply better games, and will be released just a month or 2 after Halo 3.
Halo 3 is for people who have never played Quake 3 or UT, that's all there is to it. There is a reason why you won;t find people playing Halo 1 or 2 multiplayer on PC, and still there are a lot of Q3 and UT servers online - games that are years older than the first Halo!
Halo is a hype, and a bad one at that. Nothing else to it - It should be absolutely *no* reason to buy a 360.
I don't rate the UT franchise very highly really. The first was a masterpiece and I played it until my hands bled. The second one, worse gameplay, poorer design aesthetic (despite better graphics). With subsequent sequels nothing has really evolved all that much. The only difference to me is a LOT more competition facing it on the FPS market.
